Carnivore opens up a space for reflection on our relationship to animal bodies and the question of eating and being eaten.

At its core lies an inner conflict, the exploration of contradictions: a tension between appetite and guilt. Carnivore makes this rupture visible; it remains raw and open to individual interpretations.
The work asks how we separate pleasure from cost and hunger from consequences. What stands between factory farming and ethical consumption, between animal rights and culinary heritage? In Germany, meat remains cheap; the true costs are borne by animals and farmers—in a system that prioritizes efficiency over compassion.
In the forests of Brandenburg, further dimensions of our relationship with animals come to light. Time and again, one sees animal heads left behind by hunters. They bear witness to a dominance over nature.
Besides the collected animal bones, tufts of fur and feathers have been added to a hand-woven wool rug: remnants of a silent feast in the forest. The silicone cast of the artist’s stomach, marked by a tick bite with Lyme disease, captures a moment of being consumed. In a small display case lies the crow’s gift: a mouse’s jawbone that has been regurgitated—a memento mori in the cycle of consumption. Meat consumption is not only a human dilemma, but also part of a natural exchange.
